$6,000,000 Verdict Against Indiana Hospital and doctor in Cerebral Palsy and Brain Damage Case
We obtained a jury verdict of $6,000,000 in the Court of Common Pleas of Indiana County against Indiana Hospital and an obstetrician. This verdict was the largest jury verdict ever in Indiana County. In that case the mother developed severe preeclampsia. Because of mom’s preeclampsia the baby needed to be delivered as soon as possible. However, the doctor failed to come to the hospital to delivery the baby.
Even after he was called by the nurses and told that the baby was in fetal distress he still waited another three hours to come to the hosptial. We proved that both the doctor and hospital nurses failed to properly respond to fetal distress and that as a result the baby suffered cerebral palsy and irreversible brain damage which requires 24-hour a day care for the rest of her life.
